Hello and welcome! I’m a self-taught abstract artist based in central Virginia. The theme of my work is Fun with Color, and the overall message is positivity.

I began painting sporadically when my children were born. So, three boys and a house full of chaos later, I found my home filled to the brim with my own paintings. With no wall space left and a yearning to continue this creative outlet, the business of Elise Saur Art began!

They say that the best way to learn is by doing, so I try to “practice” art whenever I can – which is definitely not as often as I’d like (busy household, three young boys, aargh!). But when I find myself with the requisite time for a new project, I absolutely love to explore colors and new techniques. I primarily use acrylic paints on canvas, and sometimes wood. But rarely do I use paintbrushes! Instead, I find useful tools to spread, pull and splatter the paint across the canvas.

Colors, textures, and patterns that I encounter in everyday life, along with a vivid imagination are what inspire my work. And sometimes my children and husband influence it too! Ultimately, I love to spread joy through my artwork and I wholeheartedly aim to lift the spirits of all who encounter it.
